The Genesis Flood, John C. Whitcomb, Jr. and Henry M. Morris (Baker Books, 1961)

This is one of the most quoted books dealing with the early chapters of Genesis. Many prominent creationists credit this book with launching their reexamination of uniformitarianism (the belief that the rates of geological processes today are essentially unchanged from those in the ancient past). Three of the book’s seven chapters contain a strong case for a worldwide flood, as opposed to simply a local flood. Several chapters dealing with geology are quite technical, and parts of the book are somewhat dated. This book popularized the canopy theory, now recognized as having many biblical and scientific problems.  (See pages 285293.)
